To honour the club’s momentous recent success; Bournemouth-based singer, songwriter, musician, producer and Cherries fan, Adam Scholey has released “Eddie’s Army”, the Championship Promotion Anthem 2013!
The jaunty pop-rock anthem commemorates last season’s achievements whilst rallying the troops for next, combining bouncy guitar hooks with sing-along melodies and lyrical homage to the players, manager, and supporters. And the chantable crowd-pleaser has even received full endorsement from the club itself!
– AFC Bournemouth chairman, Eddie Mitchell, says:
"Adam Scholey has created a brilliant song celebrating the Cherries’ historic promotion to the Championship, and we want everyone in Bournemouth to get behind it ahead of the new season.
Eddie's Army is real feel good song, which hopefully shows the people of Bournemouth that they have a football club to be proud of."
The track – written, composed, performed, recorded, mixed and distributed by Adam himself, under the moniker Sounds Like Adam, and via his own label, Plastic Parrot – is available now on iTunes, as well as many other digital retailers, including Amazon, Spotify and Google Play.
lyrics
We were sinking and falling by the wayside,
Nearly thinking of crawling and hiding away,
But the phoenix can't rise,
When the fire's not kept alive,
Back in August the wobbles threw us all off-track,
And by September it felt like there was no way back,
But when October rolled round,
Two men spurred a turning tide,
CHORUS
So we'll sing it loud,
So they'll see us proud,
Throw our arms in the air at the Goldsands,
The future starts now,
And we'll aim for the skies,
In the league where dreams are realised,
Here comes Eddie's Army's shot,
At the Championship,
Before we knew it we were cruising a road of draws and wins,
But for Elphick and friends that's where the story begins,
'Cos after Preston and Sheffield,
Horizons didn't look so clear,
The new year scared us all with injuries,
But that was nothing compared to the results we'd see,
With Marc Pugh surging down the wing,
And Allsop stopping everything;
Francis keeping strikes at bay,
And Eunan's FA Cup display;
Pitman racking up the scores,
And Ritchie winning league awards,
And Cook's debut header on promotion day,
CHORUS
So we'll sing it loud,
So they'll see us proud,
Throw our arms in the air at the Goldsands,
The future starts now,
And we'll aim for the skies,
In the league where dreams are realised,
Here comes Eddie's Army's shot,
At the Championship,
And we'll keep the red flag flying high indefinitely,
From QPR to Millwall, Ipswich, Burnley and Leeds,
And despite Doncaster stealing titles in added time,
Here's a brand new season,
And it's our moment to shine,
So we'll sing it loud,
So they'll see us proud,
CHORUS
So we'll sing it loud,
So they'll see us proud,
Throw our arms in the air at the Goldsands,
The future starts now,
And we'll aim for the skies,
In the league where dreams are realised,
Here comes Eddie's Army's shot,
We've all yearned for this non-stop,
So let's give everything we've got,
In the Championship.
